Wood carvers gathered together to restore the temple after fire accidents occurred. This led to the origin of the relationship between wood carving and Inami. There are inexplicable connections among the temple, the wood crafts and Yokamachi street according to the history. While nowadays, young people tend to be less interested in the traditional wood crafts in Japan. How to treasure this cultural heritage in the context of today’s society? To reveal the beauty of this town with a historical and cultural experience, I’m proposing a Buddhist guest house to have the tourists settle down to stay longer in Inami. For the Hokuriku Bank Building, the three volumns from different times created such a continuity. The new choreographic rules are set up based on factors of annual sun path, guests’ daily Buddhist’ routine, private level and noise level.&nbsp; Architecturally, I’m adding two pieces of Corten Steel Walls to connect the old “host” (neoclassical building) and the “guest” (new additions). Because everything has been measured, assembled and packaged into small discrete units. If we go back in time to the period of transatlantic slave trade, any item purchased&nbsp; from the ‘market’ had a high likelihood of being connected&nbsp; to the slave labor. Likewise, the transatlantic slave trade had a similar process of commodification. From 1700-1808, nearly a million slaves died throughout the slave trade, many of them committing suicide. One of the reasons behind this was the poor environment of slave ships. “Slave ships were the instruments that facilitated the European colonialism .” （Bailey, Ronald W. "Slavery, "The Slave Ship," and the Making of the Modern World." The Journal of African American History 93, no. 4 (2008): 547-63. Accessed December 14, 2020. http://www.jstor.org/stable/25610024.) &nbsp; It was built to achieve the best efficiency (load as many slaves as possible) without considering the living conditions. It is important to also note that this tea was imported from China by the exchange of Opium with Britain. On 3 June 1839, the destruction of opium at Humen began and involved the destruction of 1,000 long tons (1,016 t) of illegal opium seized from British traders. While both actions in China and the new American colonies were rebelling against colonial oppression or taxation by colonizers, these actions of unboxing tea/ discarding opium are also a kind of the declaration of breaking restrictions imposed by commodification. The restriction is created on commodities by packages, units or boxes, limits the quantities or producing flow for selling to each individual. Market house itself was a central trading place in downtown Providence, the arch windows on the first floor were all openings for pedestrian thoroughfare. The lateral walking flow, which is similar to our shopping experience today in any supermarket, aims to let people walk around each aisle of products to buy more. To reverse the process of purchasing, I want to reverse the traditional lateral shopping experience. The finished products need to go through 4 basic process: withering, rolling, oxidation and drying. The processed goods will be measured into certain units and put into package. In order to open up the whole area, I lower down the ground line of this zone to creat a spatial relationship of watching and being watched. To invite sunlight into the space, I add a transition area between the building and the park to let the sunlight in, potentially could be a great space for sunbath or other activities. In spite of spatial problems, I found out that most users of this space(officers) just consider here as a pass-through area. The old have a total different rhythm with office workers while using the same space. Young people have no time to slow down their working rhythm. Different generations hold their own life timeline. Hence they don't interact or intersect with each other. Watching &amp; Being watched E. Entertainment plaza The restaurant area has been widely enlarged. In spite of the constructural limits, I still try to find out a relationship between space E and F. Hence I put it to the west side of the building to create a “watching &amp; being watched ”relationship. People who are having lunch can see people playing basketball. And basketball players can see the lunch place, either. The entrance of parking lot is set on the west side of the entrance because there are less people come from this side. The parking lot area is narrowed to satisfy basic needs. People can take the elevator to get to parking lot. After parking, they can get outside to chill out in the skate park. This is the place with most sunlight. F. Sports center Most lively space of all. People can do to the convenience store and take shower after sports. Phase II. Move &amp; Stay D. Main entrance For daily rush hours, the basic needs for transport should be satisfied. A wider main entrance is built for officers and workers to pass through. Meanwhile, a bookstore is set for other people who are not in a hurry is to stay and chill. Phase III. Event generator A. Community service Space A is the quietest space among all. On the south-east of the park is the residential area, mostly are public houses from the old Shanghainese. For the sake of old people, a open-ceiling community service area is built here to enrich nearby residents’ daily life. People can read books/ newspapers, play chess, or even take lectures and crafts classes. B.Secondary entrance Without any limitations about circumstance, this zone is more flexible using. To lit up this space, I put a secondary entrance here to attract more people and to bond Space A and C. C. Events center Opposite to this area is Shanghai Mart, a place with a lot of runway and exhibitions. In this area, I build up a few movable doors to satisfy different events. For example, all doors can be blocked if there is a Tshow on the way.
